Therapeutic Yoga and Sound Developing resilience with a mindful and adaptive approach to wellness
"Yoga is not about touching your toes It is what you learn on the way down" ~Jigar Gor
My personal story has shaped how I teach yoga.
There are many styles of yoga and my personal story has shaped how I teach yoga.
In my early 20's I began to experience chronic pain from fibromyalgia. Depression developed and I found it hard to function. I was in a state of survival for many years. I would go to the doctor and would come home with a new medication to try. None of it truly helped me go from surviving to thriving. It wasn't until I discovered yoga and meditation that I began to breathe more fully again. I noticed that I had to be mindful with the type of yoga I practiced, some classes left me invigorated, others drained and sore. I wanted to learn more and so I attended a teacher training. It was amazing to learn how vast yoga is. There are many approaches, styles and attitudes. As I began to practice my self awareness grew. Each day my body and mind influenced the approach I took to my yoga practice. With this mindful approach I began to grow both physically and spiritually. I learned when I could attend more challenging classes and when to turn to a restorative or gentle yoga class. I am now in my 40's and have found that I prefer a more gentle and mindful approach to yoga that relieves me from my daily stresses and worries of life. I enjoy a yoga class that helps me find balance and inner strength by engaging the subtle body, moving mindfully and empowering me.
While focusing on Mindfulness, Movement and Sound, my goal is to provide sessions that help someone like me; those with experiences of mental and/or physical pain, and those that have limitations. I hope to reduce suffering by offering yoga and sound sessions that are adaptive, that offers modifications and support with the use of props. My wish is to make yoga accessible to all.
Sound healing has been so profound for me. We have all experienced the power of music and vibration. Think back to a musical performance that touched you deeply. Take a moment and reflect how that made you feel in your body, mind and spirit. There are certain frequencies that promote the natural healing of you body. I will never forget my first live experience with a crystal bowl in 2014. I was amazed by the spiraling wave of sound. It was a beautiful journey of such calm inspiration. In 2018 I was inspired to buy 7 crystal alchemy bowls from Crystal Tones and thus began my journey into sound healing. I have trained with Sound Healing Academy and am blown away at the possibilities that sound vibration provides. I continue to grow my instrument collection that began with crystal bowls and now includes Tibetan bowls, tuning forks, gong, drums, shakers and more to come. Such a vast, inspiring world full of potential and hope. Join me as I share my ongoing journey of exporing yoga and sound.
Yoga supported with sound vibration is an incredible journey of the self and I hope to be a guide and support for you. Please contact me to set up a free consultation.
Traci Gregory is a miracle worker. I have experienced yoga practice with several different instructors and Traci is superior in her level of expertise and commitment. Her great love for Yoga and her belief in its healing and restorative benefits is what makes her the perfect teacher for anyone looking for a life changing experience. I love how she focuses on the integrity of the poses to guide her students in their practice. Her descriptions of what each pose should look and feel like are incredibly enlightening and helpful. She also creates a beautifully refreshing and peaceful environment with her soothing voice, relaxing music, and use of essential oils. Traci deeply cares about the lives she can change through the use of her knowledge and talents. Her passion for Yoga is inspiring. ~Rachel W.
I have been practicing yoga with Traci for more than a year, and it's been a wonderful experience. She pays close attention to the needs and limits of each individual body and has helpful advice on how to modify each pose or exercise to meet your specific needs. I feel so much stronger and more flexible, and with her emphasis on breathing and body awareness I feel much more in tune with my body and much more mindful. She's a great, relaxing teacher, perfect for beginning and intermediate students. I love getting my weekly yoga fix with her! ~Jocelyn C.
I hated yoga...until I found Traci. She invited me to try a new experience that opened my eyes to what yoga can truly be: a beautiful journey of self discovery. Traci lovingly helped me reconnect to my soul--capturing both body and spirit in her healing practice. I highly recommend that anyone at any level try her out. You won't regret it! ~Stephanie H.
I enjoy the quote by Jason Crandall, "Yoga is the perfect opportunity to discover who you are."
When we use our breath with mindful movement we can discover much about ourselves. Whether you are new to yoga or looking to deepen your practice, contact me to schedule a private session or join me in one of my group classes.
